Only song of his I truly dig is 'First Day of My Life'. Something about that one. Can't get past the trembling, about-to-cry voice and vocal timbre otherwise even though that song isn't really a departure from it.

When someone says "winter of [insert year here]" it refers to the real dead-of-winter months of that year, i.e. January, February, March (beyond if you're in the far northern latitudes like our Scandy friends). I don't know that December of the previous year is generally counted (here in the US) sin...
