Sinking Down on Billions
Did anyone see the most recent episode of Billions? It opened and closed with Sinking Down. Season 03, episode 06. Fantastic!

Jack Daniels "Label Story" Ad
If you haven't heard it, you have to check out the Jack Daniels ad -- the music sounds hauntingly familiar. http://www.brandnewschool.com/Projects/ArtAndDesign/LabelStory I really think the composer of this track owes something to Jay, cuz it is just like "Open Ground" from the Slaughter Rule soundt...

Jack Daniels ad by Jay Farrar?
Has anyone noticed the music on the Jack Daniels ad about Ol' No. 7 sounds suspiciously like Jay Farrar's "Open Ground" from the Slaughter Rule soundtrack? Apparently, the music was written for the ad by Alex Weinstein and features mandolins instead of guitars, but the resemblance is more than uncan...

Two songs that got me
were "Lookin' for a way out" and "Route." It was the "alt" in "alt.country" that drew me in at first. Great post!

Definitely "mother road"
It HAS TO BE "mother road" in Trace. Great thread. So many to choose from, but a sampling: Don't let the falling rain get in your mind. "No rollin' back" You're turning before you know it We're just threading this needle... for life. "Live Free" Too many lost names, too many rules to the game Better...

From what I recall the set list was the same as at Maxwell's: The Picture Gramophone Bandages No Rolling Back Big Sur Methamphetamine Highways & Cigarettes Creosote Slate Barstow Cocaine and Ashes Out Of The Picture World Waits For You Damn Shame Hanging Blue Side Medication A...

Great Album has sunk in deep!
I think the first five tracks are just one of the most killer starts to an album I've heard in a long while. I don't like that the iTunes version messes this up a little. I like Adrenaline a lot, but I don't like where it is on the album. It's more of a single song I listen to when I feel like it. I...

Psychedlica
I'll take Psych-outs like Medication (esp. live--esp. with Anders Parker) and oddities like Slow Hearse over the plodding Joe Citizen's Blues. I'm probably the only one who's glad that song was left off Okemah.

Slow Hearse = intro to Adrenaline and Heresy
Do we know for sure that it was the intro to one of the bonus tracks? Cuz if not, I think a good case could be made for Adrenaline and Heresy. You have the repetition of the "feels like drivin' round in a slow hearse" at the beginning (in line with the "heresy" part of the song) and then the repetit...

14 vs 22
I also renumbered the tracks to get the 14 in order and then the 8 additonal at the end. I think it flows better as a whole. Then "Carnival Blues" starts the first song of what I think of "The Search 2.0" EP. I agree that Slow Hearse was the beginning of Bleed the Line. Exurbia and Bicycle Hotel are...

Bedtime songs
I have been signing almost every night to my 3 1/2 year old daughter either SV's "No More Cane" or "Barstow." Sometimes, Gob Iron's "Hard Times." From The Search, I'm thinking about trying out "Highway & Cigarettes" but I'd rather her not go to bed thinking about cigrarettes. "Bicycle Hotel" might b...
