Re: The Hangdogs

I recorded their first album at my studio, and contributed to an early "Hangdoggerel". I wonder whatever happened to their song "Little Man in the Boat".[/quote]

A live version was released on the cd "Something Left to Sell". There can't really be a studio version can there?

The Hangdogs were a great band. Matthew is a friend and if you're so inclined a youtube search for Hangdogs or Red Smear will turn up a few videos I've posted over the years. Matthew's current band Matthew Grimm and the Red Smear are great as well, certainly more rockin' and more political too. Wall...

Exurbia is a slow piano type song, similar to Anacostia, but without the lyrical depth. It's probably my least favorite of the 3 outtakes but it's a fine song nonetheless. Feel and lyric wise it's similar to...say...Greenwich Time if that places anything for you.

There's another studio outtake called Exurbia and the live disc with every song from Okemah, plus JCB, plus Armagideon Time.

Okemah Revisited live disc

Has anyone else gotten a copy of the Okemah Revisited 2 disc set yet? The live disc sounds superb and the studio bonus tracks are nice too but it's easy to see why they were left off of the more uptempo album. Here's to hoping that the whole Orange Peel show gets released for those of us not fortuna...

Bottle Rockets in Iowa City 9/8/05

Hey all, Just a quick cross post as I know there's lots of Bottle Rockets fans on here. The Iowa City BoRox show kicked ass and they debuted a new song. I'll make a full recording available on dimeadozen by the end of the weekend (or so), but in the meantime, I uploaded a couple of mp3s, including t...

Amen. Without Sticky the Jay boogie woogie piano footage would have never existed.

Plus without seeing his moving avatars, I never would have tried to make one with footage that I've recorded.

The fellow in the avatar is Matthew Grimm, formerly of the Hangdogs and now of the Red Smear (www.redsmear.com). That avatar was whittled down to 6kb by our own Sticky for me, but the original is funnier. If it were full size you could see that Matt is playing the guitar with his right hand, and smo...
