I think the post was about whether or not the Beatles are deserving musical gods or were they a hype driven pop band. Wilco only represented the quality side of music vs the hype side.

Do you think the band would get as much respect and admiration if they had been less popular and sold less records? Lets imagine that if they had if they sold on the level of Wilco's sales. I'm not excited about this release. The Wilco site once said they had recorded close to thirty songs this time around and all thats on this is stuff that has been traded over and over for the last two years. Hell I have memorized the words to 90% of the new disc already.

Jeff is an OK player that wasn't blessed with quick fingers or the dexterity to play complex lines. He himself would probably tell this same thing.
