Re: New Son Volt Album - Doug Sahm Tribute

Number 1 now (!) with five songs on the singles chart (meaning, I guess, radio play?).

Re: New Son Volt Album - Doug Sahm Tribute

Number 2 on the Roots Music Report ‘Americana’ chart.

There’s two tracks from the album on the Americana singles chart, too.

Re: New Son Volt Album - Doug Sahm Tribute

“Farrar has some new songs, or at least sketches of them, coming together via home demos, but there’s not necessarily a long-term plan for those, at least not yet…” “After this run of dates is completed, Farrar’s open to the idea of recording an EP, noting that many musicians are moving toward short...

Re: Son Volt shoutout on new Isbell

Thanks for the heads up. I knew Isbell had a new album out but didn’t bother to check it out as I had kinda lost interest. Just listened to ‘White Beretta’ and like it! Now I’ll have to play the entire album.

Re: New Son Volt Album - Doug Sahm Tribute

<t>One song is now active on streaming sites (I subscribe to Apple): ‘Sometimes You’ve Got To Stop Chasing Rainbows.’<br/> <br/> I’ve heard the entire album three times now and am enjoying it. The phone messages from Doug to Jay are great..and I get a kick out of hearing Jay sing Sahm’s lyrics. <br/...

Re: New Son Volt Album - Doug Sahm Tribute

I’m at waiting for the cd release in June but have looked to see if there’s a professional review or two floating around. Nope, nothing. Though I did find these two discogs reviews (a five and four star, respectively): I say it's Son Volt's best album since Straightaways. As far as the sound it is f...

Jay Farrar Side Projects Songwriting Credits

Occasionally I find myself perusing the BMI/ASCAP Songview database and finally was motivated to make note of the Jay’s shared songwriting credits. So I thought I’d put this out in case anyone else finds this sort of thing of interest. Specifically, I had no idea that Andrew Duplantis has a co-write...

The Felice Brothers ‘From Dreams to Dust’. This is my album of the year for 2021. ‘Jazz on the Autobahn’, ‘All the Way Down’, ‘Money Talks’ and ‘Be At Rest’; an all-around terrific album.

Re: Missed Ones

I’ve always thought the live version of ‘Damn Shame’ was a standout. I’d put that back into the set (replacing ‘Hearts And Minds).

Re: Orange Peel Asheville NC 9.22.21

Thanks for posting the show. I think the new material fits in nicely. My one quibble is Hearts And Minds. It just doesn’t fit at all. I agree it’s most representative of Honky Tonk but I’d still go with Angel of the Blues for the live set.

Great! Thank you for posting this.

Re: New Album: Electro Melodier

The album continues to do well. After “falling” from #3 to #4 (on roots album chart), it went up to #2 and then, as of now:

Re: New Album: Electro Melodier

On Roots Music Reports album chart: currently (week ending August 21) at #4. Prior week it hit #3; week before that at #13. Not too shabby.

Single: Reverie went from #40 all the way up to #7. And I see The Globe just entered new at #49.
