Falut Line

Just read Fault Line by Barry Eisler. It's a good, fast-paced thriller about a Silicon Valley lawyer who gets caught up in something bigger than him, and his estranged brother the military operative who helps him out. It's one of those really hard to put down books - I even wanted to sneak a few pag...

Just finished season 3 of The Wire on DVD. Waiting for #4 to come out.
Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations on the Travel Channel.
Regular doses of Stewart and Colbert.
Guilty pleasure: The Hills on MTV. I'm still laughing at Whitney saying, "WTF?" a couple weeks ago.

Into the Wild may well be my favorite book. I re-read it at least every couple of years. McCandless has fascinated me since the original article in Outside magazine. I'm looking forward to the film, but still a little scared that, just like any movie from a book or vice versa, I won't feel that it's...

I caught part of Jason Isbell's (free!) show at Memorial Union last night. I liked it, and will probably pick up the album. Derry was playing with them, which was cool.

That Voodoo Candle rendition was really interesting - cool to see him mix it up like that. I was excited to hear Adrenaline & Heresy live, although I think I'm kind of wedded to the album version. It's tough to replicate the feeling that the recorded song gives me at a live show. Likewise, Life Wort...

Get us a review damnit. How hard did the 97's rock? Did Ken Bethea melt you face with his riffs? They kicked ass, but we didn't anticipate the size of the crowd for this show, so we were a bit off to the side for much of it (still sounded great, though!). Fortunately, we were able to work our way i...

Shitchyeah, I love that album, as well as teh live takes on SSBL and Live in Seattle.

Jay played a couple of shows in Madison (with Anders, and with Brian Henneman as an unannounced special guest) with a lot of Sebastopol & Terroir material, both were a really good time.

Thanks - this is cool!

For any Jayboarders who are into cars, there's a free e-mag called Winding Road that works this way also.

Re: cookin' kicks ass!

He describes a visit to Tokyo. He is somewhere overlooking Shibuya Crossing, an area of Tokyo filled with hordes and swarms of young people,(predominantly, but touts and business people, gangsters, etc. 5 road crossing that is ALWAYS chaos. His description was something along the lines of stereotyp...

Re: cookin' kicks ass!

His TV show, No Reseravations, is pretty much all I watch. Yeah, that's a great show. I enjoy all of his stuff. Tony is one of those assholes who's also a cool guy. Or maybe he's a cool guy who's also an asshole. Either way, he'd be one hell of a cat to have drinks with. Kitchen Confidential is one...
