Re: RIP Justin Townes Earle

Wow, what a great story. I couldn’t help but tear up thinking of how similar this was to my interaction with Jay Bennett almost 20 years ago.

It’s a good tune. My only complaint and I am probably in the minority here is that I just don’t like the keyboard. It’s just sounds too much like The Search and American Central Dust, which don’t get me wrong I love both. I want to hear Frame and Jay’s guitars more and less keys. It’s just superflu...

A rather awesome nugget from Tweedy’s new memoir: "I guess the most miraculous encounter of all would be when Uncle Tupelo opened for Johnny Cash at a club in Santa Ana, California in 1993. We didn’t meet him and June Carter before the show, but we could hear them during our set, through the curtai...

R.I.P. Scott Hemmy

Just saw on Son Volt's facebook page that Scott passed away. Scott had rented vans to Jay and Jeff going back to the Uncle Tupelo days. I had the pleasure of meeting Scott and his wife at a Wilco show at Stubbs a few years back. One of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of meeting at a roc...

I caught most of this stream. I gotta say, they sounded pretty damn good. Even the newer material was listenable. Just tells you how much better they sound live. They played Box Full of Letters, and if you didn't know any better, you would have thought Brian Henneman was playing lead guitar.

Wow, this is huge. So happy to hear they are communicating and maybe just maybe willing to mend fences. I know they have a lot of mutual friends that would love to see this happen. I have been putting money away into a special hidden (from my wife) account in case this happens.

Man, what shitty news. I remember his posts very well. . If I recall, his signature was even a tag line showing support for Dev's son and his battle against cancer. Not sure how old Scott was, but he was way too young to go. My dad is going thru a battle with Stage 4 kidney cancer as we speak, so my...

One of my favorite Jay memories was a solo show he played in Austin in the early 2000's. Some guy kept yelling Whiskey Bottle and of course Jay just ignored him. However when I yelled out Wipe the Clock, he got this little surprised grin on his face and muttered something to the effect of "I don't k...

Back Against The Wall is an instant classic. Love the chunky guitar solo. Can't wait to hear this one live. Might have to make the trip back to Austin on March 4th.

I remember posting on the wilco board (Via Chicago) right before they released Wilco The Album and right after they performed that "wilco loves you baby" song on Colbert that Tweedy was completley fucking with his fans and the critics, as if to see how bad of an album they could possibly make only t...

Just heard the entirety of the album. It's worse than I thought. It sounds like a bunch of b sides from the solo album he did with his son. Jeff's vocal delivery is not doing it for me these days, either. I can't find one song that stands out and I have never said that about a Wilco album. If I had ...
