Re: Jay Farrar flipped me off - the real story.

(What I should have yelled back at him was "that's the problem Jay, you look at what you do as work these days".) Or you might consider that the few minutes / hours a traveling band gets to play on stage is the fun part of on otherwise tedious, round-the-clock, low-pay routine ["work" you might say...

Either way, Creston should publish a “best of” list, posthaste! Why not? Tony Gilkyson ( http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=66917294 ) and whoever played guitar on the Star Room Boys record This World Just Won't Leave You Alone and Buddy Miller and those who p...

shorts

I saw Jerry play in shorts one time - a hot day circa 1990 or thereabouts, Foxboro, MA. All the archivists types we're beside themselves. It was 'a first.'

I wonder if you get to see Henry Kissinger in cut-offs in the woody confines of the Bohemian Club? Watch out for ticks, Hank!

Re: Gordo Bookendo

•I'm not sure exactly how many Creston Guitars figure into this, more all the time. They're fun to look at anyway, and I am a pimp. Mark (3), Jimmy (1), Tom (1), Chuck (1), Jay (forthcoming). And I live in Burlington where I sometimes see Ted. And I play in a band that recently got kicked off Ryko,...

say, thanks. In this case, the wood in question is California sugar pine. My favorite. Eric could play a brick and it'd sound good, though.

Here's another Eric Heywood clip - with Ray Lamontagne. There's a lot of emphasis on the horns and breathy vocals, but Eric's guitar sounds pretty damn good if I do say so myself. Great player, great guy.

i'd read Joe before Fay - it's the prequel, and a better novel as far as I'm concerned. His non-fiction is great, too. On Fire is amazing, and Billy Ray's Farm has some incredibly funny and incredibly sad essays.

why not buy my truck?

it's true, I'm selling my truck - a 1995 Ford F-150. You could own this valuable piece of Jay Farrar memorabilia for less than the price of a new Les Paul! It's the truck that carried wood for the guitars of Eric Heywood, Mark Spencer, Anders Parker, Brian Henneman, and other Jay-related people (Dev...

For those Bruce-inclined people, that's Jeremy Chatzky on bass - he did the Seeger Sessions record / tour / DVD with Springsteen. He also plays in Laura Cantrell's band with Mark and Jimmy. You can see some pretty good players in some pretty empty bars. Not all of them play my guitars.
