Wow. What an idiot. I tried to figure out a way to email the reviewer or the site administrators, but couldn’t find any way to do it. Hopefully they’ll realize the error and suffer the appropriate embarrassment. Tim in the ATL I found him on twitter and notified him. I'm sure his defense will be th...

I wonder if there are any more songs that were recorded and that might see the light of day? I say this because I listened to On Chant and Strum today...and started thinking about all the (very good) songs that weren't included on The Search. I'm almost always a "shorter is better" guy when it come...

so far I have to say this is my least favorite son volt record. I dont hear any of the trademark 5 star jay songs. some are pretty good but they arent resonating with me like usual. I am so sick of politics and can usually overlook them but it doesnt happen here, I listen to music to get away from ...

I get what you're saying about the drums, but I didn't mind. I figure I have a million versions of these songs with drums(albums, live shows, demos), it was good to hear a different arrangement.

San Francisco show

Saw the show at Slim's last night. Maybe it was just me, but Mystifies Me sounded phenomenal. Also played some of my person favorites: Driving the View, Methamphetamine, Seawall.

Loved the show, good to see him live, been a long time for me.

Farrar agreed to be in Golden Smog, Tweedy didn't go for it

Found this interesting tidbit in a recent interview: Was there a time when you wouldn't play Uncle Tupelo songs? I remember you getting annoyed when people called for those songs. No, it comes with the territory. They had good reason for shouting for those songs. I think it is disappointing to see t...

The Falling Cars book got a awful review over at the AV Club. Usually they are spot on with a lot of their reviews. The comments there are always fantastic too. I will still read this book either way. I wanted to kick the reviewer in the head. He was almost perfectly wrong. I learned a huge amount ...

I listen to this more often than Trace sometimes. As a lot of people have said, there's a lot of really memorable songs. I'm very partial to Hanging Blue Side. "Say hello to......the blue side haaaangin' arou-ha-hound" What a great opening line. Not even cool winds whipping through this town could ...

And for what's it's worth, Sea Engines is the best song on the album. Absolutely perfect song.

Didn't mean to upset you Boze. I'm a liner notes guy and I'm well aware that Jay essentially wrote the album. I was in fact talking about the singing, and the reason I was so pleasantly surprised is because it's hard to find a voice that can stack up against Jay's. Agreed on The Void. Awesome tune ...

Given it several listens now. It's a beautiful album and some of Jay's finest writin' and singin'. So, so pleasantly surprised with Gibbard's performance. I was very much expecting to love Jay's tunes and being disappointed by the rest. Dead wrong once again. Gibbard brings it and his tunes hold th...

Re: Vancouver show cancelled

Hi everyone - Tomorrow's Vancouver show has just been cancelled by the promoter. The rest of the tour is still on and will happen. This was beyond each band's control. Sorry for the inconvenience and Son Volt hopes to be back there before the end of 2009. I for one blame Jeff Tweedy....and Marlin P...

No way, I'm standing by my interpretation, Mother Theresa F'd in the A by Marlin Perkins.

It's a fact that Jay likes to write about local places and people, Perkins was the Director Emeritus of the Saint Louis Zoo and inducted into the St Louis Walk of Fame.
