not WT
i was there and about pee'd my pants seeing jay jump on stage for windfall. though i'm about 99% sure whiskeytown didn't open. and looking at the setlist, since bap kennedy and 6 string drag joined the encore, probably not WT. i did see the late R.L. Burnside after this show ended at BB's Jazz Blues...

Jay & Brian Pic

louvin brothers "satan is real" - found in a local record store in decent condition. i was happy because the ebay auctions were always out of control expensive.

Freddie Friction, local St. Louis drummer and spoon player and owner of Frederick's Music Lounge, refers to Stag as a meal in a can - Steak Taters And Gravy. That's good enough for me.

sound
the sound was a mess. it was really murky on the sides. a bit better in the center back. we wandered down into the "pit" in front of the stage and that was the best (besides being really close to the action).

i was lucky to get hold of an advance copy so i've been listening for a couple weeks. i'd say my first reaction was disappointment. i was expecting at least one rocker (ala route/drown) in the bunch. but i kept playing this record and it just kept growing on me. the hooks are not so obvious, but onc...
