I have the Best Buy disk. It has the no-horns version of The Picture, which shows me how much better the horns version is, and an acoustic version of H & C, which is slightly better than the album version. It's fine, nothing I would consider must-have. For example I think the Afterglow 61 EP is esse...

Also wouldn't mind seeing him add some Gob Iron tunes, Buzz & Grind and Hard Times for starters. I saw those live during the Gob Iron tour, but they're great songs that should get added to the rotation.

They played Bad Day during a Scrubs episode once, that might be the song you want. Great, great song, was on their latest "best of" albums as one of the few "new" songs. If you read the liner notes though, you'll see they wrote most of it a long time ago, which is why it has that old school sound.

REM was certainly labeled as a band deft at reinventing itself. But around the time of Monster, they jumped the shark. Michael Stipe started singing falsetos, they added all kinds of electronic textures and eventually Bill Berry left to heard sheep in Georiga or something like that. I really tried ...

I think anyone trying to rate this against his previous work is pulling the trigger a little early, at least for me I need to let the album settle and age before passing final judgement. Some songs age better than others. That said, I love the album (14 track version). Only change I've made so far i...

I was hoping someone would call out this song, I think it's my favorite from the iTunes bonuses.

I would think that Shuck would at least like Meth and Highways and Cigarettes. Those 2 songs could have been on any old line-up Son Volt album. I may actually drop .99 on H&C over at ITunes... or just snag it off of EMule. I have a real problem using my money to support Jay's brave new direction. I...

I still say the 14 track sequence is far superior to the 22-track sequence off iTunes. I'm not saying the bonus songs aren't good, they just ruin the album continuity. And yes, I agree, the 14 track sequence is perfect.

I am curious what some of the more...ardent...Jay fans would say (devronika). Seems like most people are saying yes, so here's a follow up. What amount of money would be enough? 370 Million obviously would do it for most of you, how about 1 million? 100,000?

Would you give up Jay for 370 Million?

So the MegaMillions jackpot last night got me thinking about what I would do for 370 million. So here is a question for the board. If someone told you that you could have 370 million, but would never again be able to hear a Jay Farrar song would you do it? And by not hearing I mean old songs, new so...

While I like the bonus tracks, I think the 14-song playlist flows better and feels more like a cohesive album. The rejiggered 22-song list doesn't flow well for me, the bonus songs slow it down too much.
