I aint no playa but I did just finish Robbie Robertson’s book, "Testimony" last evening. I enjoyed it a lot. I read Levon Helm’s "This Wheel’s on Fire" about five years ago and came away feeling that Robertson was a bit of a back stabber, prima donna and more of a glory hound than the rest of the b...

I'm not posting this to start any arguments, but the Troubadours and Bottle Rockets are playing some shows together in March. They are a good fit. The Bottle Rockets would never open shows for Mumford and Sons. They occupy two different corners of the room. Hey Jr29, I'm really sorry if my comparis...

I just finished Woe To Live On, a Civil War era novel set in western Missouri and eastern Kansas. The author, Daniel Woodrell, is a Missouri guy and sets most of his work in or around the Ozarks. I'm now reading Hot Burritos- The True Story Of The Flying Burrito brothers. He's also a fan (friend?) ...

I disagree regarding the Turnpike Troubadours. They are nothing like Mumford and Sons or the Avett Brothers. Their songs are much more in line with James mcMurtry or Chris Knight. I abhor Mumford and bands that sound like them. Listen to "The Bird hunters", "The Housefire", "Bossier City' or their c...

Dallas show March 2

This show isn't on the SV website yet but on March 2 they are on a bill in the Dallas area with Slobberbone and Turnpike Troubadours. That is quite a show and hopefully a sign of more upcoming full band shows.

Caesar was there. I saw them in Nashville back in July and he was there too.
They are a tremendous band and both shows were great.
I wouldn't like a show without Caesar either.

I saw Los Lobos Friday night, attended a bluegrass festival yesterday and saw Lucinda Williams last night. Great weekend.

I believe the next show for me will be the Bottle Rockets in St. Louis on Thanksgiving weekend.

I'm ok with whoever the duo partner is, but i'd kinda prefer Spencer just to change it up.
