RED RED MEAT

Red Red Meat was/is one my favorite bands.

Wondering if anyone has any comments...either on them or on Califone...

Would they fit under the genre of alt.country?

Live Westerberg

I know this was a topic of discussion before the two wastes of sperm and eggs showed up - there's some pretty good live Paul Westerberg at

Not quite Jay, but hey, passing it along.

Cannot agree more. But the 'Mats were more than that... they took the "pop hook" and punked it up (just a teeny bit - they were by no means a "stereotypical punk" band), drowned it in booze and cigarette smoke, and started singing about "pay you back last calls" and bitchy stewardesses. In the earli...

While the guy who wrote the review for Pitchfork is a dipshit, I do have a question.

Let's look at another "seminal band" and their now solo lead singer - the Replacements and Paul Westerberg and compare them to the situation the dipshit describes.

What's the difference?

I went to Afghanistan in Dec '01. A few months earlier, I saw Jay in Nashville while he was touring for Sebastapol. We were living in Clarksville. My buddy, who is now in Iraq, was big into Son Volt, so we went and got drunk like good soldiers, but I really had never heard him. Sitting in the theate...

Listening to a couple of things these days... The Backsliders from NC - although they broke up, they're damn fine Willy Porter Peter Mulvey (a quote from a show I went to in Manhattan, KS by a nasty old broad - "I think we stumbled on a gold mine here" - no shit, lady) The Delilahs (Minneapolis) Wes...

Dude - there are some soldiers in here who have deployed in the past and take offense at that shit. Making fun of what they've been tasked - not want - to do is way not cool. Don't think ol' boy in that photo wouldn't rather be back here, and probably doesn't think to highly of people having fun at ...

I'm was like that way with "Outside the Door." Just kind of snuck up on me - a bit of a hitch at the end of Sebastapol.

Station to Station

You know, this song is really good. In fact, all of Thirdshiftgrottoslack is good. He sounds a bit more energetic than on Sebastapol....almost happy. Just listening it at work...better than the nasty crap being played on the radio...maybe Linkin Park will end up getting busted on their tour with Sno...

Having lived in St. Louis, Nashville, and Milwaukee - I must admit, Kansas City is about as close to the bung as I've ever seen...not to bitch, but c'mon - what's the deal?

That Ryan Adams show was another bummer. There's always Wakakusa in June. . . hopefully.

L. Williams/Bottle Rockets

So I was supposed to go to the show tonight in KC. Cancelled. Sucky.

Anybody know if the Bottle Rockets are going to do a full tour...?

Anybody have a bootleg of Brian Henneman when he opens up for Jay?
