Commercial Success Thing

Again and again... While he hasn’t experienced the commercial success of his main Uncle Tupelo collaborator — fellow singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy, who founded Wilco — Farrar’s more recent work is every bit as poignant as the songs he penned for the band that defined the alt-country scene in the 199...

Driving The View Question

One of Son Volt's best road song, imo. Want to play it with my friends, just couldn't realize its chord progression... Probably has some alternate tuning/open chords here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4sCuy-2978 http://i.hizliresim.com/ZLEQkV.jpg And this is the only thing i found yet: http://ww...

Question About "Strands" Track

Hi friends, We finally decided to cover "Strands" from legendary Wide Swing Tremolo album. It's almost done, just checking for bass parts... Anyway my question is anyone has "Strands" live version? I mean bootleg? I discovered that it was onthe set list back in 1998 era... https://musicbrainz.org/re...

For me it has everything, which i like the country side of son volt more. Also it's a emotional-creative work. Based on Bakersfield honky tonk music as we all know, but you don't feel like listening a george jones song or wynn stewart really. We are listening Jay Farrar and his unique touches, and i...

Ryan Adams New Studio Album

http://www.avenuestheband.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/ryanad.jpg David Ryan Adams self-titled 14th studio album came out. Made by his own studio PAX-AM Far away from good-old whiskeytown years. But still has some cool songs in it. Reminds me a mixture of Cold Roses and Ashes and Fire. What do yo...

Great album. Better than Terroir Blues. TB includes more experimental works and hard to handle...

But this album is exactly close to Son Volt path... Barstow is totally a Son Volt classic for example.

Hope, Jay Farrar goes exactly and deeply on the Honky Tonk path. ACD and Honky Tonk are just intros for the great classical western sound. So now it's time for to create something more aesthetic and traditional with this tunes i think.
