Re: Request?

You actually don't even have to be attractive... Wait, was that mean?

Here's some video... 'Chickamauga' footage starts just after the song has begun. You'll also notice a pretty big screw-up on the part of M. Patterson at about the 1:18 point in Chickamauga, as he accidentally continues the verse drumbeat into the bridge ("A miracle might point the way..."). Jay and ...

Videos still to come... Haven’t had a chance to upload to YouTube yet with all the Mothers’ Day goings-on. I promise to post later. I wanted to add to my post from last night to say that fans in Chattanooga are particularly keen on Chickamauga, as the Chickamauga National Battlefield (site of one of...

An absolutely blistering show. The sound and the energy was perfection. I’ll post a full report later, but for now let me say this... For the first time I’ve ever seen or even heard of, Jay played a REQUEST! Several folks in the crowd had been yelling for Chickamauga throughout the night, and then t...

Funny too how quickly Jay’s ostensible sinus congestion cleared up

He sounds phenomenal.

Re: Haw River Ballroom, Saxapahaw NC May 9

Sure sounded like Jay has a cold or some kind of sinus distress. No bueno. Was looking forward to lead guitar during 99, but it was completely lost in the awful mix. Sound sucked--except good outside as I was leaving. Must’ve been where you were standing in the building. Several friends of mine fro...

Chattanooga show — 5/11 (Lucy Dacus too!)

Anybody else out there planning on going to the Chattanooga show this Saturday? It’s at Songbirds, which doubles as a guitar museum and is on the same campus as the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel. Museum closes at 5 pm on show days, so I’ll be sure to be there in time to take a gander. And I’m...

Or the concept of an indoor batting cage, a place in which I spent way too much of my own youth :)

Re: Jay Farrar Songwriting Credits

After listening to that podcast where Jay discusses having written all the songs for the Kerouac project, etc., I became curious and searched on BMI. Jay has sole or co-writing credits on 249 songs (as of now). Some of the New Multitudes stuff is pretty interesting. Some songs (Careless Reckless Lo...

This is phenomenal! Like being a fly on the wall amongst Jay and friends, or like getting Jay to answer questions you as a fan might ask. Candid, funny, and insightful. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Thalia Hall, Chicago 4/27/2019

Friends- I'm new on the board, and I came here to try to share what I'm feeling with others who experienced the Thalia Hall show last night. I attended the Chicago show last night, which meant trudging through total bullshit weather and enduring some creepy dude trying to touch me half the night, b...

... if you weren’t well acquainted or nostalgically dysfunctional ... Thanks for this, uncharted. "Nostalgically dysfunctional" is, without question, the best description — nay, diagnosis — I’ve heard for the myriad folks who still long for some mythical lost version of Jay Farrar. The man is p...

I’m surprised only 6 songs from the new record have made the live show. I guess perhaps more will be introduced to the setlist down the road, but it would be out of character for Jay to alter this setlist at all for the remainder of the tour. We shall see!
