HBH - The price of energy is going to go up no matter who wins this election, supply vs demand is a hard-and-fast law as far I can tell. Until some new source of energy is developed (fusion?), the supply will be tight, and subject to events and manipulation. The purchasing power of your hard-earned ...

It's earlier than you think

I'm sure McCain isn't trying to trick liberal women into voting for him by choosing Gov Palin as his running mate. He is trying to get through to the conservatives who would sit this one out or vote 3rd party. He is trying to increase the enthusiasm of people who otherwise would just hold their nose...

I have a paperback of his from the 60s, Profiles of the Future. Each chapter extrapolated the effect of some scientific development on mankind - some changes were positive, some not so much. There was a great spreadsheet at the end showing progress up to 1960 in fields like biology, computers, trave...

Look at the difference in Jay's appearance in the ACL DVD and recent pictures. It appears he's been avoiding the 40 oz Schlitz and biggie fries since SV 1.0 ended.
Little kids that kinda look like us running around the house has had the same effect on most of us.

You can sleep when you're dead

But even if you saw something apparently supernatural, say the Miracle of Fatima in 1917, with the sun spinning around the sky, throwing out rainbow colors -- After a few years of regular old life, wouldn't you question what you saw, maybe come up with some other explanation, and go on like it never...
