Yes, there's something SERIOUSLY wrong with our system of government when your only two viable choices are Bush and Kerry. There's so many things broken with our system: campaign financing, the fucking 200 years out-of-date electoral college system, the Senate (full of millionaires that don't give a...

Welcome! If you want to get more stuff by Jay, my advice is to start with Son Volt - Trace and then proceed in both directions simultaneously (back in time thru the Uncle Tupelo releases and forward thru Son Volt and the solo stuff) :-) Oh... and don't forget the soundtrack Jay did for "The Slaughte...

There is a band I love that is the most obscure band of all time. Only me and two other people know about them. They are the greatest band in the history of music. They are called 'Drag Richmond Connell's Armchair through Slobberbone River'. They are awesome live, but they only play in a Stucky's b...

wow ..you guys can read my mind....perspective and timing are everything. I just had some Sinatra in the car stereo going and his cadence with the vocals kinda sounded like some of the stuff Jay does. A song I wrote 10 years or 5 years or 1 year ago..I hate now but, when I play it for someone new ....

Hank, I completely agree with you on this. I could vote on this poll today and tomorrow I might have a different opinion. I think Louis Armstrong once said that there's only 2 kinds of music: "good music" and "bad music". The definitions of "good" and "bad" are left up to the individual. To me "good...

Another potential reason to buy the re-issues besides the liner notes and extra tracks is that the sound quality is better - well, at least that was my impression of the "old" Anodyne vs. the re-issue. I had bought the first three since I didn't have them and then decided to buy the Anodyne re-issue...

I remember the email that mentioned this EP (although I deleted it - D'OH!), but I don't remember it mentioning being available for preorder.

If it is available for preorder, I would also be interested!

And now for something completely different...

OK. All this talk about turning on other folks to Jay/SV/UT got me wondering: What other music are people on this board into? There's already been lots of threads where people mention other notable bands/musicians, etc., so I thought let's do it all in one thread. So, list a couple of bands/musician...

It's been hit-and-miss for me. I've been able to turn some people on to Jay/SV/UT, but it's usually not because I'm force-feeding it to them - I'll usually put it on in the car or late at night hanging out at my place or whatever and wait to see if someone asks "Who's this?" (at that point they're p...

I understand the points about keeping it informal and cozy. I would only suggest minimal organization, perhaps keeping tree/vine stuff in it's own category; perhaps live show reviews and a couple of other things. Yes, by all means I don't think this site needs a "Does Jay fart when he fucks" categor...

I've really been into "Dead Promises" lately... anyone know what tuning is used on this? (I know it's a Bm/D/G thing, but it doesn't sound right in standard tuning) Also, after seeing "The Fog of War" (documentary on Robert McNamara) and all the increasingly fucked up shit that's happening in Iraq, ...

Organizing this site...

Just wondering...

Is there an admin for this site? Seems like it could/should be better organized rather than lumping everything under "General Discussion".

Here's an example of a well-organized site:

Anyway... I'll shut up now.

Yes, search the message board for past concert setlists. Everytime I've seen him he's played Windfall & Tear Stained Eye. He usually throws in some other Son Volt, but mostly plays Sebastopol and TB stuff. When's he's in a good mood, he usually plays Still Be Around for the final encore... but that'...
