Lost Highway
Lost Highway was pretty killer from Lynch, as was Mulholland Drive. dang, I know they said to pick one, but I can't pick one favorite of anything. Elephant Man is one of the best films ever, and Blue Velvet was great. Who is the guy who made Dead Man with Johnny Depp, which has a great score by Neil...

Mark Spencer
I agree completly. Mark Spencer adds an amazing element to Jay's music with both his harmonies and his guitar playing. Though they are the same songs, they sound very different than the versions with Canyon. Vitamins is my favortie right now, but they are all incredible. I loved seeing Jay with Cany...

Marty S
God when you stop and think about it he has a pretty impressive resume, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Raging Bull, Last Temptation of Christ, Last Waltz, GoodFellas, After Hours, King of Comedy. And did anyone see the PBS Blues series he exec produced? It was great.

Film
I am never good at chosing one favorite (in anything), it is impossible. Coppola is probably my favorite, Apocalypse Now is the best film of all time. However, the Coen Brothers (Fargo, Blood Simple, Big Lewbowski, O Brother Where Art Thou) are incredible and usually co direct. Francis' daughter Sop...

Live in Seattle
Back from the Road Trip, listening to Jay most of the way. This new live performance is incredible. i think Cahokian may be the best number on there, just mind blowing. Vitamins and Fool's King Crown really stand out as well. Just fantastic stuff. I am blown away by spencer's guitar work. Too dang c...

sounds
I just posted somewhere else that I am amazed at the difference in the sound and feel of the songs between the Jay/Mark/Eric versions and the Jay/Canyon versions. The same song sounds completely different. Both are fantastic, just a completely different interpretation. I am about to take a 2 hour ro...

11 cents
I listened to to the songs by Mike W and would probably go as high as 11 cents. I miss vinyl album packaging, but not having CD packaging isn't too big of a deal, as it isn't usually to good anyway. Plus I have an MP3 player that I slap about 4200 songs onto, it makes it easier on my frequent road t...

Tech Support
Sorry, my day job is tech support, so I am used to questions like this. Though at work they are usually about something boring like accounting or autocad or something. I would much rather answer tech support questions about Jay Farrar's music.

file
I downloaded the FLAC, but the process should be similar. Is the file extension on the file you downloaded MP3? or is it EXE? It should be the latter and when you double click it, it will expand into the 15 MP3s that make up the album. Then Media Player will be able to play those files. ] Let us kno...

Excellent Points Mike
All excellent points in your response Mike. Yes $13 is too much for a downloaded file, I buy stuff from Apple's ITunes sometimes and YES 99 cents is too much. It is crazy. Who sets these standards and pricings? Just like you I am a huge Jay fan, I am sure as big a fan as SummerSleep, but that doesn'...

eno
yeah I agree that Eno/Farrar would never work just cause of the vastly different styles, but it would be neat to see what would happen combining such a brilliant songwriter and musician with a brilliant producer/engineer/creative genius. It would be weird to say the least. I think Rubin would work, ...

Rick Rubin is awesome
If they didn't do it themselves, then I agree with the Rick Rubin option. He is one of the top producer out there, and so incredibly diverse in who he works with. Johnny Cash's amazing last 10 years, Chili Peppers, Mars Volta, RATM, and on and on. He is amazing. Imagine a Brian Eno and Jay Farrar pr...

FYI For anyone who actually thought that was really Jay.
I know none of us believed that, but this is from the SFGATE article: "Not that he ever looks at it; Farrar is both an unapologetic Luddite and almost completely uninterested in what's being said about him. He is startled to be shown printouts of e-mails from the Web site's chat rooms written by som...
