popularity/record sales/quality
The times are very different now, than in the 60s or 70s. The great majority of popular music today has nothing to do with art or talent, it is just dollars and cents. It is marketing and gimmicktry and dancing and videos. It usually seems that the more records a band sells the less talent that they...

Real Country
I too was exposed to some great country music by my dad back in my youth. At the time I was always asking him to change the channel or to listen to my stuff, but now as an adult I am so thankful for the exposure. I love all kinds of musical styles, but I can't imagine life without Johnny, Willie, Wa...

Phoenix
I've noticed that Jay and others have bypassed phoenix. That seems strange to me, you think there would be something around ASU or someplace that would cater to artists like that. Is it really cause of all the corporate owned venues or what? I grew up in Phoenix and a lot of my family is still there...

DONT OPEN IT DELETE EMAIL
Yeah, got it to. Looks like there was a virus at the Farrar List or Grain Elevator or wherever that originates, which probably mailed that attachment out to everyone in their address book. That is how this crap usually spreads. Hopefully they get it cleaned up, but for now DELETE the email, do not o...

Jams
Yeah I'm not a big fan of the jam stuff, but dang, just Wilco, Willie, Bob D, David Byrne, Los Lonely Boys, YMSB, Kings of Leon, Grandaddy, Chris Robinson, Taj Mahal, Gillian Welch and Beth Orton would be worth putting up with the Dead and DM and Trey. I would want to see the schedule first to ensur...

MP3
No I have a Creative Labs Noman Jukebox Zen, which has a 20Gigabyte hard drive. It has aboit 4200 songs on it, including the entire UT/SV/Jay Farrar catalog. But sometimes on long trips the battery dies, that is when the road trip compilation CDs come in handy. After I made the post this morning wit...

Canyon
cool, thank you for the info. I really like that song. I think they are a great band, very original sound. I wish they would have done that song Mansion of the Mountain when I saw them. I also think they are a great compliment to Jay and his songs, I have heard a lot of mixed reviews on this board a...

Road Trippin'
This would be really hard to pin down to a limited number of songs on a CD, that is why I have an MP3 player, but I think I could live with: Drown Feel Free Last Time Around Voodoo Candle All of Your Might Different Eyes Medicine Hat Cemetary Savior Flow Question Driving the View Tear Stained Eye Wi...

Canyon Song
I sure hope Jay comes back around after the European gigs, I saw him twice and want more! on a side note, does anyone happen to know the name of the song that Canyon usually opened with on this last part of the tour. The time I saw them and every recording I heard they opened with that really cool s...

from what I have seen Jay plays a Martin, and also has at least 2 Bonanzinga hand made acoustics from Bill Bonanzinga that he uses on stage.

Jay's January 16th Show in Dallas
Did someone say that they had this show? I would really like to get a copy of it, as I was there and had my mind blown. Not much too trade yet but I am working on it.
Thanks and let me know.

FYI Got this message earlier from WilcoWeb
Greetings from London, where Wilco are mastering their forthcoming album. That next record (or should we say "cd"?) is now entitled "A ghost is born" and will, if the schedule holds, be released by Nonesuch in North America on June 8 and their affiliated labels virtually everywhere else in the world...
