Really good album. One of the best of the year
Oh! I'll check this out asap. The Long Ryders were one of my favorite bands during the 80s (along with the Waterboys and Los Lobos).

Farrar's voice sounds as good as ever. It hasn't seemed to have aged at all.

I guess this was originally for Vanity Fair, either 2013 or 2000 (both dates are noted. Anyway, the Vanity Fair one includes Costello's greater explanation of how he put the list together and also notes that his favorite song on Trace is Loose String.

The Pine Box Dwellers. From 2017, I guess, though just stumbled upon them. Very nice.

Isn't that some footage of the World War I vets that marched on Washington? That is very interesting.

This is the second time now that I've seen The Boot featuring Son Volt. Are they a well known country music (? I'm guessing, based on the various tabs) site?

Thank you for the link.

I don't think Jay has ever thought about the musician-fan relationship. I don't think he understood the question at all. In other matters, he seems like he's got his talking points for this album on autopilot, though I thought the podcast host did a good job to get beyond that. Jay got more relaxed ...

I haven't but I'll check them out. Some of my favorites have been recommendations from forum members (Will Quinlan and the Diviners; Ryan Bingham, The Decemberists) so I appreciate the head's up.

Medication is awesome live. My very first post on this forum was after seeing the band play in Tokyo when touring after Okemah. I was blown away by Medication then, too. I finally figured out how to view my initial post (when I posted the set list for March 31, 2006). The two encores then were Godzi...

If setlist.fm is to be believed, World Waits For You was also cut from Chattanooga.

Videos still to come... Haven’t had a chance to upload to YouTube yet with all the Mothers’ Day goings-on. I promise to post later. I wanted to add to my post from last night to say that fans in Chattanooga are particularly keen on Chickamauga, as the Chickamauga National Battlefield (site of one o...

Am continuing to get sucked into the songwriting vortex. I did NOT find Waterloo listed yet for Jay. And I checked both under his name and also, as performers, for Gob Iron. I did see "Union" though. Here's some numbers I've saved into my notes, just being curious: Songwriters Totals: Paul McCartney...

Jay's BMI song count has mysteriously grown by 8 songs overnight; now at 257. Some songwriters have songs on both BMI and ASCAP. Farrar doesn't, but McCartney has 246 BMI/906 ASCAP. Neil Young 80 BMI/449 ASCAP. I can't find Dylan on either one. It appears he's on SESAC but I don't know how to naviga...
