9/23: CrossRoads, KC, MO.. anybody going??

Wondering if Jay might play some Notes of Blue at the gig, and if somebody might be there to report back.

Maybe everybody at hq is about to turn a corner and Jay's gonna start doing a weekly podcast featuring Tupelo anecdotes and love/sex advice just for us heads. Maybe Jay'll get a Sirius XM channel like Garth Brooks.

Notes of Bleu: Anybody Know Anything?

For the love of gawd, I've googled and googled and cannot find word one about the forthcoming record. The title was announced almost 6 months ago... and here we are. I wonder, is there a problem finding somebody to release the LP? Has some kinda 'none of yr damn biz, fan!' calamity befallen one of t...

coming on Thrill Jockey. PRESS-RELEASE Thalia Zedek might be entering the fourth decade of her career as one of the most singular voices in rock, but she shows no signs of creative fatigue. Throughout the 80s she rose to prominence fronting Uzi and Live Skull, before founding Come with Chris Brokaw ...

Dave Bryson + Thalia Zedek, Son Volt + Come + Holocaust

So recently I read that Dave Bryson plays on the upcoming Thalia Zedek record, a cool development in it's own right, but also one that resonates with my parallel Jay/Thalia obsessions. Seeing Come when I was 13yo was "that show," after which I emerged with a sense that both rock and life were darker...

angel of the blues is a bad motherfucker. i hope it gets used in some high-profile tv drama during a breakup/abortion/execution scene, and that Jay pockets 41million dollars. jay shouldn't have to fight his way free from us idiots' expectations about him "returning" to country or "returning" to "for...

Let's not mention David Barbe without also noting his fugging awesome production work on Wide Swing, as well as the fact that he played bass and occasionally sang/wrote for Bob Mould's inevitably always-underrated Sugar.

I'm really disappointed in the album, too. I'm glad y'all like it, though.

I'm a long-time fan, and I'll stay loyal, but I really think the new alb is a snooze, and that some of Jay's lyrics have moved past being prosaic into being just plain turgid.
