Re: The Listening Post

The Jayhawks ‘Xoxo’: No Olson but songwriting and vocals from the entire band. I like having the new voices. O’Reagan’s songs are terrific. And I like Perlman’s song, too.

Re: Son Volt's Outlaw Country Cruise Set

Nice! Thanks for the link. Union and Afterglow 61 were especial highlights for me. Have they done that almost a cappella (just Jay and Andrew with drum backing) on Windfall before? That was great.

Really good sound for the vast majority of the show.

Re: The Listening Post

Many years ago a board member put a Howlin’ Rain song on one of the yearly roundups. I loved that song and somehow thought of them yesterday. Looked, and am now listening to their latest, “The Alligator Bride.”

Re: Hello Goodbye Revisited

That is a coincidence. Very funny. I’ve played it a couple more times and really like it. Bryson on the drums, kinda propels it along. That was recorded for , was it World Cup soccer? Something soccer related in L.A., I think. So maybe it wasn’t the World Cup. Something to do with Beckham.

Hello Goodbye Revisited

I stream on Apple Music and today’s My Favorites playlist (generated by Apple) included Son Volt’s cover of Hello Goodbye. I guess it’s a pretty straightforward rendition but I really enjoyed hearing it after probably several years. (It’s followed by The Beat Farmers ‘There She Goes’ and I see The H...

With all the mentions of The Hold Steady (which I’m unfamiliar with), I’m giving it a listen now. I really like "You’re a Good Kid" and (playing as I write) "Traditional Village."

Wilco "Ode to Joy." I’ve listened through a couple of times now and have four tracks I like. Most of it puts me to sleep (especially the first four songs). Like: Everyone Hides, White Wooden Cross and a couple of others.

Fantastic! And, yeah, you’re right about the lyrics. "take back the angry fat man..."
Thanks for posting this.
