I enjoyed Johnny Irion's set. Check out thatbeat's video (there's a link earlier in this thread). He is married to Arlo Guthrie's daughter, and his great-uncle was John Steinbeck, if I am remembering correctly.

I dutifully returned the cassette to the library as well, but promptly went to the local record store to buy the cd. I think I bought "No Depression" next, then SFG, then Anodyne.

I definitely remember being hooked the moment Jay began singing "Grindstone". I knew I had found something real.

I borrowed it on cassette from the local library because the name "Uncle Tupelo" seemed to ring a bell. Started me on this long train ride. Thankful.

Thanks to Gordon and John for taking the time to record and share with others the unbelievable event that took place at The Grey Eagle on Tuesday night. My brother and I arrived early to check out the taquiera (highly recommended the chorizo tacos), and were absolutely blessed to witness a solo Jay ...

I also had an unusual Best Buy experience. No less than five (5) different employees were on the case. They kept disappearing into the back somewhere, one after the other, always returning empty-handed. "Who is that band again?" One employee even wrote "Son Volt Notes of Blue" in ink on her hand bef...
