Watched all 3 songs multiple times. They did a great job of generating energy and inspiration in a sterile environment. Wonderful guitar tones, and Jay is in fine voice. Andrew and Chris both grew facial hair since the tour started, Mark got a haircut. Jay, well looks like he did at 20. What the hell?

And maybe Louris.

Nice close-up of that pretty red Gretsch. Like the little guitar noodling before he starts the song too.

It's a terrific little program--kudos to CBS for doing this. If I was the producer, I'd do 2 songs and maybe skip the interview on 4/15. Jay has an off the chart quality of music to interviews ratio.

Setlist

While I tend to like it when artists mix it up show to show, this is an extremely well-chosen setlist. So many great songs from Jay's nearly 30 years of recording. Bandages and Scars following Back Against the Wall, Route, Damn Shame. Graveyard Shift! And wrapping it up with the Velvet Underground--...

Mark Patterson still behind the kit for the 2nd leg? Anybody ever hear what happened to Jacob Edwards?

interesting dynamic--the low playing/high harmony singing bass player. Jim Boquist and Andrew. Randy Meisner and Tim Schmit. Even Jeff Tweedy back in the day.

This is 1 terrific band.

Great stuff! 3/4 of the encore Uncle Tupelo songs. It's all excellent--the guitar tones are amazing. I particularly thought the interplay between Mark and Chris on Still Be Around was spellbinding.

Can't wait for Great American Music Hall!

I agree that Jay must feel this is significant. On the other hand, Son Volt seems to be a fiction anyway. Notes of Blue was recorded with only 2 members from Honky Tonk (Jay and Mark--Gary seems to have had a very limited role). Basically Son Volt in the studio is currently Jay and Mark, and an avai...

Lyrical Inspiration?

Somehow can't see Jay working "Excuse me while I whip this out" into a song, but you never know. Mark--is Jacob going to join the tour, or is Mark Patterson on board for the duration? Interesting watching Jay sort of guide him a little in some of the early videos. I assume he and Andrew have played ...

Drummer

Checked out the videos--hope some come up with Jay and the Gretsch.

Who is playing drums? Doesn't look like photos I've seen of Jacob Edwards, but I could be wrong.

Were they having fun?

Did the band seem to be enjoying themselves (and each other)? Any words from the stage? Was Jay solo on Still Be Around? Andrew in good voice (and long hair!)? Mark play some keyboards as well as pedal steel?
