Re: Okemah and The Melody of Riot

Just saw that Okemah is now available on streaming services. Finally!!! WAHOO! Holy smokes. I hate to admit it, but I have become so dependent on Apple Music that I haven’t listened to this record in ages. I’ll listen tomorrow, and it’ll feel damn near like the first time. Stoked! Tim in the ATL Sn...

Very entertaining read. I guess my perception was it wasn't as bad between Jay and Jeff. I always assumed it was a passive-aggressive situation toward the end. But fisticuffs?!? Never thought it was that bad. Very interesting. I'll guess we'll never hear the full story but the interviews capture it...

14 Years Later

California is a big state with a lot of cars. So it was a surprise after living in Marin for almost 30 years to see (on Sir Francis Drake in Kentfield):

SONVOLT

I think it was on a Chevy Volt. I would imagine the owner visits this site--any chance you'd sell those plates?

Sausalito Report

A fine afternoon of music by the boys in black (Mark--was that a coincidence?). 2:00 is a tough starting time, but the band played great and Jay was in fine voice and mood. Pretty standard set (which isn't a bad thing), possibly rushed a little by the schedule, and no new songs. Chris and Mark rippe...

Thanks for the update Mark, and thank you to Jay and the Band for making the trek out. We in the Bay Area (especially Marin County) are really lucky! Hope you guys have fun, and see you Sunday! Any of the new album material in the setlist? And could you please persuade Jay to play the beautiful Ange...

Son Volt in Marin Sunday

Can't wait to see them--2:00 start. Followed by Drive-By Truckers. Ironically, Jason Isbell is playing THE Greek (University of California, Berkeley) tonight, the other Greek (LA) tomorrow, and then not again until Monday at Red Rocks. It wouldn't be hard for him to hop on a 1 hour flight Saturday o...

Ah, but the key question is will he refer to Jay (F) as "the guitar player"?

Just curios Tokyo, what is currently #1 on your list? There is no top of the list as I figure perfection is perfection. Having said that...yeah, some albums are more vulnerable than others. It's very fluid with, in theory, no album safe from the hatchet. In terms of numbers by decade: 60's-- 14 alb...

Sausalito Show!

Glad I checked the Tour page--out of the blue a Son Volt set at the Sausalito Art Festival (not Arts, BTW). I hope it is an actual full band performance, but that's a long journey for single show. I assume they will announce some other West Coast dates. In any case, Jay in Marin twice in 3 months!!

Actually, a trip to Pappy's is on my bucket list. Maybe Mark Olson would pop in!

Well, that's helpful.

Very cool choice of a Petty cover--one of his best. Frame's 12-string is exquisite. Hope the whole band makes a California visit soon.

Speaking of RSD sound quality--the live '96 Wilco is marginal. The live '73 Neil Young is exceptional. What a treat--I assume Jay grabbed a copy given his stated admiration of TTN.
