I don't know much about the guitar, but it's very pretty. The funds are for a very good cause. Very cool to see them collaborate, if not exactly in the same room. Jay and Jeff still look like rock and rollers (Mike never really did, but dang he was a great drummer and the glue that held the others t...

Anything new or different on this reissue?
Looks like it is On Chant and Strum on green vinyl in The Search packaging. Tracklists are identical. Anything I'm missing? Remixes or bonus tracks?

Thanks, Tim! Very nice and appreciated. Jay's voice is spot on, just as rich as ever. I still have Hoping Machine and Question to watch, but it's been great so far. Farrar wrote These Roads Don't Move, right? That one was a real treat to hear Jay sing it. I think Jay was responsible for most of the...

Jackson Browne, Maui Arts and Cultural Center (Christmas gift to wife). Saw him with Warren Zevon opening in high school (1976), not since. Then Jay in Sacramento and at Terrapin (yay). Just saw Queens of the Stone Age in SF. Loudest show ever. Stupidly, painfully, unmusically loud. I like them, and...

Gary just nails it
Maybe a new appreciation for how good and multifaceted his playing is. I think I took him for granted. This is seriously great--beyond accompaniment, it's like another voice for the songs.

California
Look at all those dates in May! And the venues--Terrapin, Chapel. Big Sur! Awesome. Can't wait.

Straightaways reconsidered
Straightaways was treated unfairly by some reviewers, compared and contrasted with Trace. I think about it like a baseball team. Trace may be more consistent top to bottom, but the top of the Straightaways order is so great, with an MVP hitting cleanup. That "murderers row" of Caryatid Easy, Back in...

I'm looking forward to seeing Jay in any circumstance, and hearing Andrew's new stuff. Hope they come back to the Sweetwater. Son Volt opening for "Turnpike Troubadors"--seriously? Never heard of 'em. Assumed they were some "Highwaymen" like supergroup. Nope. Jason Isbell on ACL this weekend. Set yo...
