A.M.: Deluxe Edition comprises the original album and eight unreleased bonus tracks—including Uncle Tupelo’s last studio recording, "When You Find Trouble,"

Is this the 1st UT recording to appear on a non-UT release? I assume Jay had to consent. I wonder if he's actually on it.

How about Eric Heywood? I think he knows that Left a Slide song! And he isn't just a pedal steel player.

Another duo I'd really like to see is Jay and Gary Louris. I've said it before, but their voices would probably blend/contrast beautifully, and the guitars! And the songs.

Tom Petty

Outpouring of love and respect from a remarkably diverse group of admirers (who else appeals to Dylan, Cypress Hill and Nikki Sixx?). From a May interview with Jay (Colorado Springs Independent): "My first exposure to the blues would have been through The Yardbirds and The Rolling Stones, before I w...

I'm pretty sure I won't be able to watch 6 String Belief again. I hope Widespread doesn't comment on the Concert for Bangladesh or the Last Waltz--I'd really hate to retire them too.

Stagecoach

Does anybody know what happened at Stagecoach? I believe Jay told the audience the following night (at Pappy's) that "they kicked our ass". What did he mean, who is they, and is this as negative as it sounds? Hope this doesn't make him avoid all festivals, especially Hardly Strictly!!

Ironic

It's pretty humorous for someone from Berkeley to find ANYONE overly eccentric. I think Widespread is a true fan, and is thoroughly enjoying this ongoing "dialogue". Some of it is pretty funny, and the weirdness just adds to it. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Widespread is actually Spencer, Bryson...

Kitaen :x Yeah, I know--I usually try to get near the board. But part of a show is seeing the band interact too. The little nods, sideways glances etc. And dang, this is one great band. Mark, what's the sound like for you guys on stage? Are you getting a full mix straight from monitors, earphones? ...

Great American

Referring to the venue, not myself. Pleased to see a quite nice tour bus in front--Jay seems to be taking care of his guys. Anders was wonderful, despite too much talking in the crowd. Why do people go to hear music and then chat away? I'll never get that. Otherwise good, large crowd. Set up about 3...

Not sure I follow that, but ok.

Noticed Jay dropped Still Be Around from the setlist at the Roxy--hope he plays it in SF tonight. And decides that this is the perfect time to break out Angel of the Blues and Left a Slide. 😉[/quote]

Spencer's contributions

Son Volt 2017 is a full-on rock band. Mark's role here is adding color largely via the classic Hammond B3 sound, plus pedal steel. And he's really good at it. They wouldn't sound nearly as rich and interesting without it. Similar to how Benmont Tench made Hollywood Town Hall so great that the Jayhaw...

Mark Patterson appreciation

Listening to that Bowery show at some volume, getting psyched for the Great A.erican Music Hall tomorrow! Mark is such a low key guy, but those are powerful drums he's brought to this band. He and Andrew are dynamite together! Found this article (sorry if it's been posted before) http://www.daytonda...

Keyboards

I know not everybody agrees, but I'm loving the color added by extensive keyboards on this tour. The Picture sounds terrific. I assume that's an electronic keyboard playing the accordian sounds on Dynamite (if it's a real accordian I apologize profusely). Jay is in great voice, and the band is right...
