So why would they sign on, then change their minds? It only makes sense in the context of Jay squeezing them. Prove me wrong. Haha, that's the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time. Here's my theory: Aliens came and visited the Boquists and Mike and warned against the reunion, saying...

Jay's lead guitar

Let's hope this new Son Volt will highlight a little more lead playing by Jay (now that Dave in gone)! It was great hearing him jam out on Hurricane last time around but I WANT MORE!

How can you assume that? Could it be that last time they were backed financially by Warner Bros. and this time their backed by Jay, and he can't pay them as much? That is just as plausible as your hairbrained theory.

"Farrar was unable to reach acceptable business terms with the original line-up." Read: He was too cheap. Read: Son Volt was used to Warner Bros. spending power rather than that of an artist-owned label. Jay can call his new band whatever he wants. Social Distortion has had only one original member...

When he's being paid good money to perform for us we have every right to expect him to STFU. So now the fans are defining what a performance should be? What if they don't like the music? Should they demand he stop playing or should they just stop listening? If you don't like it, don't spend your mo...

I agree with most of your post but there are some very good "political" albums. Greendale by Neil Young and Crazy Horse and The Empire Strikes First by Bad Religion (all of their albums could be listed as well) are two.

Why do people believe that people like Jeff should keep quiet? He obviously feels strongly about what he is saying (I still don't understand how you could not) and if he's got the means to get a message across let him do it. You don't have to go. You don't have to listen.

I agree. I see Son Volt as Jay's brand of Crazy Horse. This is not a reunion album, just like Greendale wasn't a reunion album (a 7 year space from Broken Arrow!).

Hope to see Heywood there as well. The fact that he was touring with Jay last year makes me think he'll be there.

Farrar songs come fairly easy to me, we have approx. the same range. Not saying its as good as Jay of course, but I wouldn't say he's neccessarilly more difficult than Tweedy or anything for me.

My first instinct would be to cite Jay's bowl cut, but Tweedy's hair ain't the best either. Maybe they go for that just-woke-up look.
