Source: https://www.popmatters.com/jay-farrar-r ... -doug-sahmGiven the success of this record, are there other musicians you might do something similar for?
There’s one of my old-time buddies that we toured with, Alvin Youngblood Hart, who has always been a fan of Henry Townsend, a blues guy from St. Louis. So, maybe at some point, we’ll reconnect with that and look into Henry Townsend’s music. Henry was one of those guys who was playing blues in the 1930s, and he lived up through the 1990s. I did see him play once, so maybe on the horizon at some point, Henry Townsend will be the one.
What are Son Volt’s future plans? Are you going back to the studio soon?
No concrete plans after this tour that runs through September. At that point, I plan on doing some collaborative writing with other folks. We’ll see how that shakes out. Again, I’m just trying to follow wherever the inspiration goes. For me, going into different creative working environments like that it’s something I’m always looking forward to doing.

In this new interview Jay says like that:

Tour ends Saturday, what's next?
Jay used to be on a 3 year cycle with projects, but that's been thrown out the window for awhile now.
This was a great tour, I'm wondering if we'll get another solo acoustic tour?

Time well spent trekking up to Santa Barbara.
It was a packed moderate sized cool venue as always.
The band and Jay, great as always. Andrew’s smiling face,
Mark’s licks on lap steel vs the incredible laid back guitarist…
On the highlight-Ten Second News. So many tasty licks, subdued playing completely opposite the guitarists that overplay…sublime. His incredible finger playing …this man has style, skill and love for music…too many unexpected wonderful licks in harmony …we really should know his name and career I loved him. Then again I loved Chris Frame and Walbourne…etc. I want to thank Jay for bringing yet another incredible talent on a tour for us fans and reworking just enough to keep things fresh.
Oh, I never heard Catching On live either. Great stuff

On this tour, I personally found the timbre of Jay's new guitar, which he had to use that type after shoulder treatment, very bright. Maybe an issue with the sound system or that's the way he likes... I'm not sure. Cause tone of his usual acoustic guitars are normally much deeper and balanced.
Playing "Driving The View" with the new vocal style is a nice innovation.
"Back Against The Wall" has been reinterpreted also. It's pretty nice.
Greetings to the fans who came to this beautiful event regardless of the rain and storm.

In all my time in Asheville I've never made it out to a show at Pisgah Brewing's outdoor stage, last night was great, the weather was crazy- during Peter Bruntnell's set it turned into a major storm, had to cut it short by about 15mins.
Took awhile to get things plugged back in and dried off, but when SV hit the stage it was magic from start to finish, even with another downpour during their set, the crowd didn't budge! Go see this tour, Songs of Doug tracks were great and truly still stuck in my head in a good way, Trace from start to finish was amazing and then the other selections did not disappoint. Encore was American Girl and then a blazing Chickamauga!
Setlist same as Saxahawpaw so if you look that up, thats what we got last night. 10 Second News was on fire!
Video forthcoming.

Tour reports? I have to wait all the way til the end!
I was listening to some of the blues tracks Sahm recorded and I'm currently obsessed with It's a Man Down There #2. It would be such a fun encore.

Is anyone here planning to attend one of the Woodstock shows in July?
