Meeting new people "socially", yikes :?

I'm probably less social than Mr. Farrar himself, but my gut tells me ALL of you folks would be a pleasure to meet and hang with.

Shit, you are on the short list too, Marko. I'll bring the Boone's.

pea[/quote]
assuming there is no other UK wine guy on this board, I am touched.

I'd be up for some good food, good wine, good music and good company. If I ever get stateside I'd like to meet SJ and yourself (who is the ex chef?)
Others I'd like to meet.
Morten
Rich (Tal) minus his flatulance.
Douggie minus his gay bicycle
Kel (Highland Creek)
The Zeag,
Aww Hell, I love you all.

those I have met.
M-M-M-Maura and Cal on a night of legend never to be forgotten. And Brian, briefly after a Bottle Rockets gig at the Borderline. He kindly signed my copy of Zoysia.

Yeah, I don't know who I'd like to meet...but all I've met have been cool. Devonie is a good friend in real life. Though our circles only cross on occassion since she lives on the other side of the country from me (If you've been to Houston, you'd understand how far the east 'burbs are from the west 'burbs...people up north travel less to go through entire states). Cindy was an absolute pleasure to hang with. Hell, this time I even talked with her and learned all sorts of good info. Saratoga Jay was a great guy. Friendly, had his finger on the pulse of the music world and bought me a few diet sodas amongst all the rounds of beer for everyone else! I met Countryfeedback a few years ago and he was a cool guy too. We got to bullshit at the front of the stage and he didn't seem scared by listening to Devonie and I curse each other and talk about how horrible the other one is with a camera. Mark Spencer was cool, too. He tossed out guitar tunings and lapsteel ideas without even a moment of the "fuck off fanboy" glance some people in larger bands tend to throw out.

I guess if I had to pick one, I'd say Kenny, he's always been a cool guy. Or Sticky, though I don't think he's around these days, he's transient like I am with this board.

Shockingly, I have truly liked everyone that I’ve met from the board so far. This, coming from one who could easily be classified as “socially anxious”, and not really into meeting new people, per se. Some of ‘em I didn’t get to spend much time with, but the moment was pleasant and certainly an experience I would repeat. Those who I’ve spent greater amounts of time with feel like family. The girls on this board are solidified sisters, that’s for sure. Cindy is one of my very dearest friends whom I cherish and adore forever and ever, ½ is a hilariously charming gal full of wit and moxie – and she lives close by, so I'd very much love to see her again for many Mexican martinis! Saratoga Jay is just a sweetheart of a man. Adorable and dear! He could have axe-murdered me and Cind on the way from Houston to Austin, but didn’t, which is why I’m writing this! See? Samuel, my arch-nemesis, is also a very dear friend and lovely man who still strives to take a decent photograph. RedPlectrum, my ACL-friend who found me a handheld fan in the blazing heat and kept me company in a misting-tent surfing the internet and looking at CRESTON guitars. I could go on … Marius & Angela – I LOVE THEM and their beautiful son!! Sticky- who I almost threw up on in Austin because I was so nervous to meet everyone at Andrew’s gig at Momo’s several years ago that I just kept guzzling Makers Mark. I’ve met up with him several times since, even! Countryfeedback – part of the glorious Houston contingent that I met at Continental Club a few years ago. A doll! LAWRENCE FAN: my day-to-day confidant and dear man who swooped into North Kansas City to rescue me from the grip of meth and the desperate looking casino-folk!! I really could go on, as all the people I’ve had the joy of spending real life time with have been lovely.

It’s oddly comforting to belong to such a vast, disjointed and dysfunctional “family”. Even if we don’t know each other, we still sort of do. A plethora of cousins scattered hither and yon!

I am using a lot of exclamation points!

as far as meeting others, i am somewhat ambivalent. in some ways, i prefer the man behind the curtain air of mystery.

So you don't want to meet jimbo then? He's actually a big pussy cat in real life (hence his lifetime supply of cat pics i think).
