Yeah ... I'm realizing now that I wish I'd been more selective instead of copying everything from my computer to the iPod. Live and learn.
It's easy to clear off the stuff, just delete all the stuff on you Ipod, uncheck the Synch box, then just put the stuff on you want (or just keep it all and create playlists)

I like having everything on my iPod for 3 reasons. 1), and the least important, it is fuckin' cool to have everything I own in my pocket. 2) When I am in the car or on vacation, I don't need to choose which cds to bring. If I get a hankering for a song or album, I can listen to it. 3) When I listen to shuffle, anything can come up. This helps me revisit albums that I haven't listened to in a long time.

You don't need to sync it with your PC, you know. Not if you prefer to update it yourself. I had one once and never bothered syncing it cause I didn't want everything going on to the device.

A fine choice. Damn, 5 years ago when I was given my 60 gig as a gift, I thought it was huge. You have double!

Since your PC and/or Mac play MP3's the portable is not redundant

Honestly, I would steer clear of the Zune. It really has too many issues with it, like a lot of Microsoft products.

If you need huge storage, then the iPod is probably your best bet. Having said that, I have 30 gb of space in my Zen and I KNOW for afact that I don't listen to half the stuff on it. Choice overload!

Using a PC does not matter if you do choose an iPod, iTune and all that will run very well on a PC. All in all, Apple has the seductive looks and the fairly easy to use software.

I went with the Zen just to be ornery and not fall into the Apple cognoscenti. Oh and buy a decent set of earbuds too. Something from Sony or Sennheiser. Dump those shity ones that come with whatever you buy cos they really are dross.
