Yep... I edited in the correction. Thanks.

BTW - how does one play a D way up the fingerboard to reach that B and C#? (my fingers just don't go that far!)

yep on the D INTRO/BRIDGE except C# not C

bet you knew that.

Come to think of it, I only play this on piano but a note is a note.

I doubt you play this in standard tuning.

Any ideas out there? Open D? Open C with capo 2?

Heart on the Ground in standard tuning:

Intro/Bridge: D+G# -> D -> D+B -> D+C#

Verse: Bm F#m E D F#m E D D
Chorus: A E D D

The last 2 D chords in the intro/bridge may not be possible playing in standard tuning?

Megaballs1 - check my work please and maybe help with those D chords

Fantastic!

Thanks Megaballs1 and Anadyne -- I'm off to try these out. I really appreciate your help. I'd completely forgotten the SS&BL dvd as a resource -- will definitely put that on and watch Jay's hands. I love the stuff like the badsss D chord that Jay does (EXACTLY as I would have described it) -- I never would have figured that out without your help, Megaballs. Can't wait to sign off and grab the guitar and try it out.

Would still love some chords for Heart On The Ground, if anybody's got them handy. That's probably my favorite track on Terroir.

Thanks again, guys.

(Low to high) CGCGCD

the D on the first string is a 9th to the C. it adds color. watch the SS&BL video and you'll get alot of clues. by using barre on the low 3 strings and keeping the high 3 open is half the battle and not very hard at all.

but it is beautiful
sorry, what's the s&bl vid.? i like tunings.

Hey, thanks guys.

Grifter, thanks for the suggestions, but I'm an absolute beginner on guitar (but working hard at it), and my ear, at this point, is pretty bad. Throw alternate tunings into the mix of trying to figure out chords, and I'm lost in the woods.

Megaballs1 -- the ones I'm most interested in are Cahokian, Heart On The Ground, Out On The Road and All Of Your Might (one of the most amazing 4-in-a-row sequences ever). Any help with any of those would be greatly appreciated.

Somebody doesn't make the tabs for TB though I've never looked. You'd be better off trying out tabs for Jim Ford.

Baby Doll hates me now (personal note, temporary hope).

If I can humbly suggest, put on the cd (or preferred media) with a good rewind, tune your instrument to each song and figure it out over and over til it sticks ... best thing you can do to learn songs off the rekkid.

I learned VH songs slowing down the LPs on a Panasonic hi-fi. Slow the record down with your thumb on the smooth vinyl right on the verge of cardboard. Emergent DJ, fashioning something. I had to figure it all out on a cat-gut string guitar cause I was wrapped up in the thought there was no way to get an electric guitar.
