Not sure if folks are aware of Daytrotter.com (http://www.daytrotter.com/) -- I just recently learned of that site. They post in-studio sessions with various artists, one of which is with Joe Pug. There is a lot of good stuff I imagine fans of SV would like/check-out (Jackie Greene, Grace Potter, Felice Brothers, Langhorne Slim, Dawes, etc...)

Take care,
Chris

Yes, he is a playwright. At least he was studying to become one at UNC-Chapel Hill when (according to his bio) he realized that he was very unhappy there and made his way to Chicago to pursue his music (and carpentry) career.

Joe Pug -- for lovers of good music

Folks should really check out this fella Joe Pug. His EP "Nation of Heat" is outstanding. Very much in the spirit of early Dylan and Nebraska/Tom Joad Springsteen. Brilliant lyrics and a huge voice.

At the bottom left, you can listen to each song on the EP in full. Start with "Hymn #101", "Nation of Heat", and "Hymn #35".
