You can check the gumbo pages to:
http://www.gumbopages.com/son-volt.html or even scam an out of print Straitaways tablature book:
http://www.amazon.com/Straightaways-Son ... 966&sr=8-2

Hope that helps.

The note says all that numbering is the picking order, but as far as I can tell it is not even close to accurate. You should be able to just pick it out by ear, more or less. Just find the melody and apply it as you are playing the chords

Thanx for the replies. I've seen that tab before and honestly it doesn't make sense. Is that really a 3-9-6 chord voicing with a slide to 8 on the A string? There's just no way. Am I reading it wrong? I can come fairly close to replicating the sound by using a standard D chord (as has been previously mentioned by others in this thread) so I figured that I wasn't to far off.

All I was saying was, as I was messing around with No More Parades at lunch I thought, man, this sounds like Norwegian Wood, just picked differently at a different pace obviously. But never take anyone's word, try it for yerself.

Thanks man, I think that's right. There was a video clip with Jay apparently playing in E with no capo. But I think you'd get a nice droning effect in drop D, even with capo 2.

live I think Jay play E not D with capo...I need the D for the lifting of the 2nd fret on G string during intro

Hey Mega-- different song, but do you have Strength & Doubt ? I think the verse is E, A, D. Does the bridge part ( seen it all coming down...), go to a minor key ?

Makes sense. When I learned Norw Wood, I wasn't using capos.

You can play that signature norwegian wood lick out of a D chord, w/out ever lifting the entire chord. I was thinking this is what JeffC may have been referring to. I could be wrong.

The drop D is right. A lot of the fingering is similar to Norwegian Wood, if you play that one.

I thought, as I recalled, you'll want to do a drop D on the low E prior to applying the capo. No guitar here at the office, but that's the way I remember that one.
