I know they don't count but I been on a hot streak getting gigs at the music hall

just saw Savory Brown and the show smoked! Kim Simmonds can still bring it. This show surprised the heck out of me as I wasnt expecting much. I was a fan in the 70's but again.....WOW

This wekend I got Pat Travers Band...........and Donna The Buffalo which I'm stoked for! Next Tuesday I got Great Big Sea.........need to see what thats all about as it sold out.

Not sure if the place is going to make it but I'm having a blast being 20 again.

Just saying

Sounds good, Sturge. I am a little ashamed that until your comment I didn’t know who Malcolm Holcombe was. Wait, no. Totally ashamed.

Thank you for sharing.

I had to wonder myself what the last show was I went to. It’s been AGES. Yes, it was a year ago. A solo soprano doing mostly Grieg at the the Oslo Opera House. My friend was visiting from the states. We, for some reason, sat up front, third row or so. That was a mistake. Starting with the introduction (which lasted about a half hour, in Norwegian) we got the giggles. And when they finally stopped talking, the giggles subsided. The singer walks on stage (she was late--must have actually been more than a half hour of improvised incomprehensible talk), and the giggles come back. It was really, really horrible. We couldn’t move even, it was so quiet in there. In the quiet spaces of music, a pin drop could be heard, and our muffled laughter. I had to turn my head away so I wouldn’t see my friend from the corner of my eye--or the singer. I attempted to breathe deeply, and I felt like a complete asshole American who had never seen such refinement as a performance at an opera house. I was relieved and surprised nobody said anything to us, but I guess they realized we were American, and somehow it just wouldn’t help.

No, wait, that wasn’t the last show I went to. The last show I went to was so bad I wanted to shoot myself. It was a Norwegian band, and it was for work so I couldn’t leave. Even the audience wasn’t entertaining to look at, and people watching is one of my favorite pastimes, because I’m creepy like that.

Am I cursed?

Probably.

James McMurtry @ Shank Hall, Milwaukee on Thursday, Jan 13. Full house, 2 full hrs solo. The man can write, play, and glare...Best $20 I've spent in a while.

Zeagertins,

Please let me know how the Against Me! show is ... I'm pulling for our FL punks big time these days ... I had a notion to drive down for the Saturday night show, but I need to head West instead.

As for me and my gang, we're heading to Grayton Beach/Santa Rosa for the 2nd annual 30A Songwriter's Festival

http://www.30asongwritersfestival.com/

... camping, song playing, and hanging out in small beach bars with a bunch of talented folks ... ride our bikes back to Grayton Beach and get our satisfaction on, Beaux! Miss you

Love,
Pony
