Infinite Arms, Band of Horses
The new Gaslight Anthem is phenomenal. Might take a few spins for it to really hit home, but trust me, it will. I think I might actually like this record even *better* than '59 Sound. '59 Sound is full of incredible tracks (maybe even "classic" tracks), but as a record I think American Slang is simultaneously more complex, diverse, and coherent. I get the feeling sometimes when I'm listening to the '59 Sound that I'm listening to the same song over and over. This is to say that, though the melodies are all great, many seem to be extremely similar. Each song on American Slang stands on its own, but as a package it is also a great record. "Bring it On" and "Orphans" are both badass -- as good as anything they've done.

Can hardly wait for the Gaslight Anthem rekkid. A little sonic honesty to temper my dismay about the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. Me and Baby Doll navigated the Sea Pony up the Wakulla River on Saturday and chilled with 4 Manatees. 3 Matures; 1 juvenile. The juvenile hung out with us and scratched his lips and front arms on our anchor rope like a kitty boo does.
Have you ever seen a Manatee's fingernails on his/her flippers? Very sweet.
Good luck, Manatees, when you swim back out into the sheen.
COME UP FOR A DEEP INHALATION OF OIL AIR.
Thanks Deep Water Horizon, BP, Obama, Cheney, too:

uh, you can listen to the gastlight anthem hereturpentim wrote:Album of the year is, hands down, The Gaslight Anthem -- 'American Slang.' Comes out later this month. If you haven't heard it, just wait.
To my ears, the Hold Steady's 'Heaven is Whenever' is also better than 'Infinite Arms.'
I do like "Blue Beard" and "Evening Kitchen" a great deal, though...

Love You Too
Infinite Arms is hands-down the album of the year. Beautiful harmonies, plucked acoustics, and a big nod at the end. Lick it up around the watering hole, indeed.

This album has to be bad. This was Will's first post in 2006:Will wrote:What a waste of talent. You can find my copy at the used CD store.

It is an outdoor concert in downtown St. Louis. It is located on the Gateway Mall approximately 1/2 mile from the riverfront.
Almost 4 years of lurking later, he posts a second time to say that the new Band of Horses album is shite. That kind of parsimony commands respect. I have no need to hear Infinite Arms.
i have much love for BoH, but Infinite Arms has let me down... there are some great songs on it, but nothing like the first 2, which are great imo.
i was fortunate enough to see this friday night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6MkU0tBZ-8
