I know what you are saying........yes NE isn't as good as the SB teams, nor do I think they are as good as thier record, but like you say it could be good enough this year.

Ratings aren't a useful metric by which to judge quality. Otherwise the Glee soundtrack would be the best album of the year, American Idol would be deemed the best show on television.

If you're a NE or PIT fan i guess you can pat yourself on the back for being in first place, but if you're honest I think you have to recognize that this year's vintage of your given team isn't as good as some squads you've fielded in recent years. Problematic contention between seasons in that a squad can only play the teams that are on their schedule in a given year, I know.

But you can't seriously tell me that the quality of play is on par with what we have historically seen.

I love 'em all. Punky Chargers gettin comeupance and Cowboys choking in the year of the Dallas Super Bowl...good times...and I love San Diego but man what a fucked up front office with a weak coach...

Seriously?! This is a great NFL season -the entire NFC is still in the hunt for the playoffs - The Jets, Pats, Steelers and Ravens seems to have their act together in the NFC - the Vikings and Cowboys are a train wreck you can't look away from, The Chargers are as bumbling as ever, the Bills almost beat one of the top 5 teams in the league and the Browns did beat a good Saints team. What more can a man ask? No, no team is running away as a clear front runner. Ratings are at an all time high. Teams that work hard and don't act stupid (see Cowboys, Chargers) are being rewarded with wins (see Pats, Jets, Chiefs, etc.).
