solid show tonight. jay and gary stuck to the spring setlist and sprinkled in 3 new songs. jay identified one as coming from the spring release of guthrie tunes. it was strong, the only song he played on one guitar that was on stage all night, and appeared to be in drop D tuning. i assume the other two are his own work, not guthrie tunes. the first song of the encore was a new song tunes, perhaps called 'shell game'. this along with a robust 'strength and doubt', with gary on the violin, were personal highlights. 'shell game' (sorry if this is the wrong title) was just great.

however, despite the solid music, i'm left troubled. my friend and i were in the front row center. when the show finished and jay and gary left stage, my friend reached up to grab the set list. jay doubled back from departing the stage, took the set list from my friend and crumpled it. as a life long tupelo and farrar follower...i am going to bed tonight troubled by the behavior of the musician i so love to follow.

i'll be back tomorrow looking for redemption.

I saw Jay in Lexington, KY in 04, I think. He did the samething with setlist. He played 6 String Belief & Doesn't Have To Be This Way (I think) both were new & unreleased songs.
His way of keeping the titles of new songs from gettimg out.
Just my 2 cents.

You should have paid better attention - the other new song is called "Don't Touch My Setlist.". Seriously, sorry to hear that. I think Jay is the personification of the phrase "trust the art, not the artist."

I'll be at the show tonight and I'll be interested to see his demeanor but I don't expect anything other than the usual.
