I was lucky enough to be able to catch them on one of the only non-festival dates they did in the last year (or two?). May of 2012. But damned if it didn't just make me want to see them again, and again. Never gets old.

New album! And the book sounds awesome too. Spring is on the way before we know it.

I hear ya...I'm eagerly awaiting not only the new release, but Jay's book as well. Last I heard the book was supposed to come out around February. I'm hopeful that the new album will be out around the same time.

Haven't seen them since ACL in 2006, which is like a really long time ago!

Wouldn't mind if they dropped by Madrid on their next tour..

as we're waiting for another SV album
to drop, i am reminded of the 3 album
run beginning with Trace. there may be
no finer Americana tinged string of releases.
there are the Richmond Fontaines,
the Whiskey Towns, Calexico's, Old 97's,
Wilco's, Will Oldham projects, Etc.,....please
chime in if there's a gapping hole, but
SV provided more reverent offerings.
subtle, bucolic, penetrating, hard and
painfully personal. UT sounds like it grew
up listening to Trace, Straightaways and Wide
Swing Tremelo.

i am confident there will be another to add. gone is the Bush dynasty but this recession still stings
in it's 4 year retreat. what will a wandering singer/songwriter
give

For the old times sake, here's Strength and Doubt:

And here's Hard Times, you know how bad everything is right now, imagine back then:

Finally, Jay and the band bring the thunder on 61 at the two-and-a-half-minute mark:

Well said, sir. Sure would be nice if we could get an update on our favorite band's days to come...

Does anyone have any information at all on this new record we've been promised next year???

Hi Lovers!

Listening again to the bootleg of the show in Atlanta on the American Central Dust tour, and I can't believe how much has happened since then. Twins, trips to Miami, blindness, and how much we can take since then without picking up cigarettes again.

James Walbourne frets some sweet guitar on this boot. The song selection still touches on The Search on occasion, and long ago too. If I recall right, James blows it up on Strength and Doubt. Gonna be there in a bit and relive the last time I saw Son Volt. Long time ago.

I'm working my way back to you, babe. Down to the Wire has some of Jay's best talking back to all you folks who think you know something else.

He plays 'Hard Times' too. Remember the days?

Love,
Grifter
