2 memories my father left me before departing this planet:
A shot of whiskey with a dill pickle juice chaser and
An enduring appreciation of George j

Deep sadness over here. One of my favorite voices, easily my favorite for anything country. Had tickets to finally see him this August.
I listen to George Jones at least once a week, couldn't listen to anything but him for the past week until yesterday.
The man sang like no one else, and I'm sure no one will ever come close. A true legend.

i cut my baby teeth on ernest tubb
in a '57 pick up truck listening to wsm
smellin' of old crow whiskey
and walkin' the floor over you

eye teeth were cut with george
askin' why baby why
lamenting to a bartender's blues
realizing we all have choices
and the cold hard truth

I hope he got a chance to hear Jay's latest music before he passed.
