I've googled 'Houdini Punches' lyrics before and found nothing. Love the tune. I was convinced Jay was singing 'iTunes score keeper'. Now I know

Another good one!

Houdini Punches

Winter gale blows the dust off of Holy Ground
No exit from hope gone from bad to worse
Mocking the salt of society's dream
Comprehension and pain to pick up off the floor

Highjacked human waylaid condition
Lives are buzzing around
With an eye to the scorekeeper
Cold reality falls
When the new thrill burns down

Feelings resonate parallel lives get drawn out
Too many Houdini punches being thrown
Stranded by reasons for staying not going
Vision is a telescope when you're on your own

Highjacked human waylaid condition
Lives are buzzing around
With an eye to the scorekeeper
Cold reality falls
When the new thrill burns down

Lives are buzzing around
With an eye to the scorekeeper
Cold reality falls
When the new thrill burns down

While you have the vinyl jacket out...

"iTunes scorekeeper" in Houdini Punches?? Certainly not, right? Sure as hell sounds like iTunes. It can't be.

I love this song and album! Lyrics from the vinyl jacket

All were born to escape
With a burning chance to prove
When the apocalypse is not hanging over

Still thinking of you
Still thinking of you
All I think of is you

Daylight discovered sensations sinking
Television as Carnival Blues
Up and down and turned around in motion's blender
It's so strange when you're near
We've never injured each other
It's so strange when you're near

Your voice is a dance in my head that I can't stop
Time to take a break and retune
Gavel and walk to one more chance worth taking

Still thinking of you
Still thinking of you
All I think of is you

It's so strange when you're near
We've never injured each other
It's so strange when you're near

Still thinking of you
Still thinking of you
All I think of is you

Nice work! Love this tune.

As for the ???? line after "So strange when you're near"... I've always heard "We never injure each other," but I could be totally wrong.

And I think he says "to one more chance WORTH taking" instead of "we're taking", but again, I could be wrong.

Thoughts/corrections welcome. I have the verse as D A G A. The "thinking of you" part is Em G. "So strange" part is Bm G.

Always born (???) to escape.
With a burning chance to prove
When the apocolypse is not hanging over

Still thinking of you
Still thinking of you
All of think of is you

Daylight discover sensation sinking
Television is carnival blues
Up and down turnaround emotions blender

So strange when you’re near
(????????)
So strange when you’re near

Voices do a dance in my head that I can’t stop
Time to take and break and retune
Gather and walk (?) to one more chance we’re taking

Still thinking of you
Still thinking of you
All of think of is you

So strange when you're near
??????
So strange when you're near

Still thinking of you
Still thinking of you
All of think of is you.
