I would love to see a Jay/Gary show with that City Winery setlist! And yes, I've seen them before. Jay seems a lot like Neil Young--he doesn't really care what the audience wants--which is part of what makes them both great artists.

This whole duo thing is getting stale for me. No disrespect to Gary/Jay. I went to the City Winery show in Chicago, and it was fun, but not a whole lot of energy in the room, and I've grown tired of the HT songs/vibe. Really itching for something new and loud from Jay.

I just took the one video of Live Free. Haven't seen any others yet. There's a Hoping Machine video from the Brooklyn show 2 nights ago. Route sounded fantastic with Jay on acoustic. Yellow Walls perfect song for Jay and Gary to cover. I asked Gary if there were any new Jay songs on the horizon and he said Jay was close to playing a new one on this leg, but not quite. But he says there are new Jay songs, so maybe next month in Delaware and Maryland, or at the Rhett Miller shows. Even without new stuff, with Live Free and Route and Yellow Walls, and with California Zephyr, Hard Times, Grindstone, Back Into Your World, Meth, Hoping Machine all still in the set, still worth coming out for even if you've seen Jay and Gary recently with a similar setlist. They both sound great. And I like Gary adding steel guitar to the mix with his mandolin, fiddles and electric. I like how Jay travels with 2 acoustic guitars - he uses 1 for 22 or so songs, and the other 1 just for Hoping Machine.

Chip Taylor is a great opener. Unlike Jay, he gives his life story during his set between songs. 4th time I've seen him open for Jay, so the stories get old, but still a great show. Plays with a great guitar player, John Platania.

Thank you! Any videos of Route or Yellow Walls? Yellow Walls... what a perfect song for Jay to cover.

The addition of Live Free and Route makes this next batch of shows totally worthwhile, IMO. Two of my favorites.

Is he playing Route on the acoustic?

Somebody PLEASE take some video to share please!
