A band I'd like to see? Son Volt. Period
SV1 or SV2.
Jay needs a band behind him in a semi-rock Envioronment.

What kicks ass more than a great rhythm section?

Come on Jay, you have the material I bet. Set it free with some great musicians

Get a new band name. SV3? Just get a non honky tonk five man band , record, then hit the road like the old days

Please?

Farrar, Louris, Perlman and Heidorn. Jay's and Gary's voice would blend beautifully, and Gary brings a McCartney-esque sense of melody and air to Jay's lyrical brilliance and (often) more somber musical approach. Jay has said Gary invited him to join Golden Smog previously. And that would be a dynamite rhythm section. Maybe do a few shows in their home towns and see if it works.
