as they say long time listener first show Loved it. I was put off a little by no drums but not for long. The interplay between the two instrumentalist and Jays guitar used as the rhythm instrument was mesmerizing. Hearing the Son Volt songs live shreds new light on the recorded cd's. I will go next time he is in town.
BTW prolly about as much flannel at the show as a lumberjack convention

I get what you're saying about the drums, but I didn't mind. I figure I have a million versions of these songs with drums(albums, live shows, demos), it was good to hear a different arrangement.

Mystifies Me was my favorite also...But I sure did miss a drum kit...
Jay was very animated between songs...my guess was 22 words for the night....

Saw the show at Slim's last night. Maybe it was just me, but Mystifies Me sounded phenomenal. Also played some of my person favorites: Driving the View, Methamphetamine, Seawall.

Loved the show, good to see him live, been a long time for me.
