I've been trying to figure that out too. Mark Spencer is on it. So not sure if power trio means Dave Bryson on drums? Or Gary Hunt for a guitar trio? Probably Gary.

This quote could illuminate on the direction:

By the way, Junior Kimbrough's "first recordings" are actually an album by the same name -- First Recordings. Great stuff.

Great article, thank you for posting it.

Eric Haywood has it all figured out man. Walking the Appalachian Trail with a pedal steel! He makes John Fogerty look like Tom Fogerty.

Son Volt a Power Trio!

Post by ThrasherBear »

Sorry if old news--from an interview before his recent show at Pappy's:

Farrar said there’s more to come from Son Volt in the near future—and there could even be another Gob Iron album.

“It is in the works. We’ve recorded 10 songs as a power trio, but it’s still in the works, and ideally released next year,” he said about a new Son Volt album. “We just need to find a home for us.

“Anders and I have also been in contact about doing something with Gob Iron. We talked about recording some songs over the summer, and we’ll see if that comes to fruition.”

It's difficult to tell from Spencer's cryptic tidbit and the title.
Terrior Blues comes to mind because of the title.
I have doubts about Notes of Blue having a similar style.
I would be so grateful to hear more about it and it soon

New Album Prognostication

Post by TragicFig »

What will the new record sound like? SV 1.0? Jay solo? OKEMAH/Search? ACD? Honky Talk? Jay plays the blues? Irish folk songs (based on the tune he's been rolling out at recent shows)? Mid tempo masterpieces?

Any of the above fine with me, though I'm hoping it has some rockers so the tour to promote (yeah right) rocks too. No matter what it's like I'm certain it will have some gems. Interested in the board's thoughts...
