Brilliant call! Doubtful, but brilliant.

We are talking about perhaps the least creative setlist creator in modern music, but hey, it's fun to imagine.

Want vs. Think

Post by ThrasherBear »

I've said before that I think Left a Slide is Jay's finest moment. Like many others here, I would love to hear him play it (I never have). But I think that song falls into the "Want" category. I don't "think" he's ever going to play it again (I recall him telling a fan who wanted to sing it with him that he'd have to relearn it first). And Angel of the Blues--the logical time to play that song was during the extensive tour that supported the album it's from. And he didn't. They are tremendous songs, and for some reason he really doesn't want to play them (no matter how much we want him to).

So in the what I "think" he'll include in the setlist--electric blues-based songs. I already mentioned 15 Keys. 10 Second News is pretty swampy. Route. Straightface. Moonshiner. Carry You Down. Damn Shame. Down to the Wire. Holocaust. Voodoo Candle. I always thought Jay should do Neil Young's Tonights the Night too!

Call out your setlist picks here and maybe Markles Spencertins
will whisper sweet song titles in Jayfer's ear ...

You heard it here first...My money is on:

Left A Slide

Your pal,
Sport Pony
How you doing Sport Pony? How is BabyDoll? You still in Tallahassee?
I'd like to hear him go back and rock 15 Keys.

From what we've heard so far, it seems that a few of the tracks from the 'One False Move...' project would fit very nicely into the live set. 'Breathe Our Iodine,' 'Final Horrors,' etc.

Angel of the Blues

Post by ThrasherBear »

I asked Jay about this song at a book signing--he just said "yeah, it's a sad song". I get the impression he's not enthusiastic about revisiting the place it came from, which is too bad. Afraid Left a Slide came from the same place (they seem to be a matched pair to me).

Based on the sounds so far, maybe something like Fifteen Keys?
