Saw Magnolia Electric Co. open for Son Volt in Los Angeles at the El Rey theatre. I believe it was "The Search" tour. Was already a Molina fan and was super excited for the show. They were probably the best opening band I ever saw. Molina had a crazy electric stage presence. The room was not big enough for his energy. Like if you blinked he might be gone.
Not sure if true or not but the story goes he was found dead on the street with no ID and a cell phone containing only his grandma's phone number.
