meanwhile, back at the ranch, I attended a show featuring the band, The Cult, several months ago. I was fascinated by the lead vocalist, Ian Astbury. A research of his background confirmed he was preoccupied with Native American imagery in his early days. Hence, his first band was named Southern Death Cult which is derived from an old term for the Southeastern Ceremonial Complex that was a mound building Native American culture.
This was part of the mythology of the Mississippian culture.
And, it recently dawned on me what Cahokian was partially about.
.......And the eleventh century center of the Mississippian
.......with the calendar of the sun, a people undone
.......ceremonial mounds in the backyards and towns
I have to give credit where it is due. Jay did seem to dig deep on occasion for his lyrics. A bit deeper than say, I wanna hold your hand or She loves you yeah yeah yeah
