Number 1 now (!) with five songs on the singles chart (meaning, I guess, radio play?).

Number 2 on the Roots Music Report ‘Americana’ chart.

There’s two tracks from the album on the Americana singles chart, too.

“Farrar has some new songs, or at least sketches of them, coming together via home demos, but there’s not necessarily a long-term plan for those, at least not yet…”

“After this run of dates is completed, Farrar’s open to the idea of recording an EP, noting that many musicians are moving toward shorter works, releasing them more often.”

I read a recent article describing Son Volt as a nostalgic act. The crowd was a quiet albeit respectful group listening to Tear Stained Eye. They are appearing at a microbrewery in Black Mountain NC that will involve a small stage and a crowd sitting at picnic tables or a bring along blanket assuming the ground is dry. This is the band that gave us the album, Trace, and the song, Left A Slide. Like the native American in the commercial shedding a tear over pollution I concurred.

Duplantis style on Juan Mendoza is especially great. Reminds me some great Alejandro Escovedo stuff. Favorite tracks: SYGTSCR, BTS, KYS, HTA and Dynamite Woman.

One song is now active on streaming sites (I subscribe to Apple): ‘Sometimes You’ve Got To Stop Chasing Rainbows.’

I’ve heard the entire album three times now and am enjoying it. The phone messages from Doug to Jay are great..and I get a kick out of hearing Jay sing Sahm’s lyrics.

Duplantis sings lead on: ‘Float Away’ and ‘Juan Mendoza.’ Does a fine job.

Separately, I went into the grocery store this a.m. and ‘L Train’ started playing! Was a bit shocked (in a nice way).

I’m at waiting for the cd release in June but have looked to see if there’s a professional review or two floating around. Nope, nothing. Though I did find these two discogs reviews (a five and four star, respectively):

I say it's Son Volt's best album since Straightaways. As far as the sound it is far from digital as the other review mentions. Great selection of songs. Great tribute to Sir Doug.

Well...if you know Son Volt, you know what this sounds like. I loved Doug, first show I ever saw was Sir Douglas Quintet. This is a nice press but it sounds very digital to me, and Doug was a looooooong way from digital. Still, a nice package and a fitting tribute. Maybe turn some folks on to Mr. Sahm!

Awesome! Great work Blind Ivan! This encore hit so hard all the homeless scattered and died on their stolen bikes and in REI tents.

Awesome video thanks for sharing! This was a great show one of the better ones I've seen and heard! And Jay's new electro acoustic guitar amazing anyone know what brand that is that he's playing now?

To bad you didn't catch the encore "Chickamaga" was a rousing rendition as usual
