got to interview him once for Gamblin' House, met up at My Fathers Pizza in Black Mountain, he was definitely a character, but sincere in every way. was also fortunate enough to see him many times over the years here in Asheville- sometimes way too sick to be playing- such an original and relatively unknown master of his art. RIP indeed.

I had the privilege of attending several of his shows. The first time my friend and I wondered who the homeless guy was shuffling along the stage. He then grabbed his guitar and sat rocking on his chair while he played and sang. Chills ran down my spine
I got to know Malcolm over the next several years. He had no interest in fame or fortune. He was known by few but cherished by those in his inner circle.
